Aethon Announces Integration with Aesynt to Improve Pharmacy Operations

Aethon is announcing integration between its MedEx pharmacy operations management software platform and Aesynt’s Connect-Rx® software platform to enable tracking of medications dispensed from Aesynt’s MedCarousel®, ROBOT-Rx®, PROmanager-Rx™ and MedShelf-Rx™ central pharmacy automation solutions. This integration provides complete visibility to the status of medication deliveries from the central pharmacy. First doses and high-value medications are frequently delivered directly from the pharmacy to the nursing unit; without the ability to track medication orders from the Central Pharmacy through multiple handoffs, medications can easily be delayed or go missing. On average, nearly 10,000 medication deliveries go missing annually for every 100 occupied beds in a hospital. This integration, which will be generally available in spring 2016 in conjunction with Aesynt’s Connect-Rx 8.4 release, will allow pharmacies to comprehensively measure and reduce the turnaround time of the medication fulfillment process.

“The MedEx product suite tracks approximately 4 million doses per year at our customer sites. Incorporating information about the pharmacy’s dispensing process with the delivery process will provide significant value to pharmacy directors who want to measure and improve the efficiency of operations. We are delighted to be working with our colleagues at Aesynt to help hospital pharmacies improve turnaround time and reduce rework so that pharmacists can concentrate on patient care,” comments Aldo Zini, CEO of Aethon.

“As a leader in medication management solutions for health system pharmacies, we are constantly looking for opportunities to reduce costs through improved medication distribution. Integrating with Aethon’s MedEx platform is a natural advancement that will enhance the value of our solutions through more comprehensive and improved operational intelligence, and better dispense-to-delivery control”, says Kraig McEwen, Chief Executive Officer, Aesynt.
