Aethon Bookings Dramatically Outpacing Growth of Robotics Industry in First Half of 2016

Aethon, the leading provider of autonomous mobile robots, continued its strong performance growing first half bookings 160% compared to the same period last year. Aethon’s growth was driven by strong sales of TUG autonomous mobile robots, selling a record 102 robots in the first half of 2016. The TUG autonomous mobile robot is the world-leading solution for autonomous material transport and delivery. Aethon’s first half bookings for 2016 exceeded the company’s first half performance from all prior years.

Aethon experienced strong demand for its robotic solutions from the more established hospital market as well as strong demand from the rapidly developing industrial market.

“We are seeing strong interest in the TUG autonomous mobile robot across multiple industry sectors and geographies. Hospitals continue to look for solutions that lower operating costs while improving support to their care delivery teams. In addition, we are seeing rapidly growing demand to fully automate material transport and delivery in manufacturing, distribution and hospitality. We are working closely with new customers in the automotive and electronics manufacturing industries to enable their advanced manufacturing capabilities and help support the move to Industry 4.0. As a world leader in autonomous mobile robot deployments it is exciting to see the great potential of this technology become more widely adopted,” says Aldo Zini, CEO of Aethon.

Aethon’s growth comes as a result of a broad shift toward greater automation through robotic technology. Aethon has deployed robots in multiple countries including China, Australia, Germany, Turkey, Denmark, Singapore, and the United States. A recent report by TechNavio identified Aethon as one of the leading vendors in the smart machines market.
